Flip a Coin
Heads or tails? Tap to toss a fair virtual coin — every flip is an independent 50/50.
How it works
- Press Flip the coin. The side is drawn first with your browser's cryptographic random generator, then the coin lands on it.
- Flip again as often as you like: the counter under the coin shows how many heads and tails you got.
- Recent results lists your last flips; Reset clears the counter.
What people use it for
Settle a 50/50
Who goes first, which film, which way to turn — call it before the coin lands.
Sports and games
Kick-off, first serve or choosing sides when nobody has a coin in their pocket.
Probability lessons
Flip 50 times and watch the counter drift towards half heads, half tails.
Questions
- Is the online coin flip really 50/50?
- Yes. Each flip draws heads or tails with equal probability from the Web Crypto API, and earlier flips have no influence on the next one.
- I got heads five times in a row. Is it broken?
- No. Streaks are normal: five heads in a row happens about once every 32 sequences of five flips. Over many flips the counter evens out.
- Is there a sound?
- A short chime when the coin lands. Use the Sound button to turn it off; the choice is remembered on this device.
