Questions
- How are numbers read?
- Spaces, currency signs and % are ignored, and (12) is read as −12. If a number has both separators, the last one is the decimal: “1.234,56” and “1,234.56” both mean 1234.56. A single comma followed by exactly three digits (“1,234”) is a thousands separator, otherwise a comma is a decimal; a single point is always a decimal. Use the “Decimal separator” setting to force one reading.
- What do the aggregations and totals mean?
- Sum adds the values, Average divides by the number of readable values, Min and Max take the smallest and largest, and Count counts rows. Totals are computed from the underlying rows, not from the cells, so an average total is the true overall average. Cells that are not numbers are skipped and counted in a note.
- Are there limits?
- The first 5,000 data rows are used, with at most 500 distinct row labels and 100 distinct column labels; a clear message appears if a column has too many categories. Everything is computed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
