CSV to vCard Converter

Your contacts live in a spreadsheet but your phone wants a .vcf file. Paste the rows, check the preview and download one file that imports every contact at once.

Contacts ready

2 contacts

vCard 4.0 · 316 characters

Columns used

  • First Name → given
  • Last Name → family
  • Email → email
  • Mobile → mobile
  • Company → org
  • Website → url

How it works

  1. Export or copy your contacts as CSV, with a header row such as First Name, Last Name, Email, Mobile, Company.
  2. Paste it into the box. Commas, semicolons and tabs are detected.
  3. Choose vCard 3.0 or 4.0, check the list of recognised columns and any skipped rows.
  4. Download the .vcf file and open it on your phone or import it in your contacts app.

What people use it for

  • Club or team lists

Put a membership spreadsheet into everyone's phone without typing a single contact.

  • Event and customer contacts

Move the contacts from an order export or a sign-up sheet into your address book.

  • Changing phones or apps

Rebuild a contact file from an old spreadsheet backup.

Questions

Which column names are recognised?
First Name, Last Name, Name, Email, Email2, Phone, Mobile, Work Phone, Home Phone, Company, Title, Website, Street, City, State, Zip, Country and Note, in any case and with or without spaces. If two columns mean the same thing, the first one is used and the other is listed as ignored.
What if I only have one Name column?
The full name is kept as it is. To fill the family and given name fields, the last word is taken as the family name and the rest as the given name. That is a guess, wrong for names like “Mary Anne van Dyke”, so use First Name and Last Name columns when the split matters.
Should I choose 3.0 or 4.0?
Version 4.0 follows RFC 6350. Version 3.0 is the older one that some apps still expect. The two files differ only in the VERSION line. If an app refuses one, try the other.
What is left out, and is my file uploaded?
Rows with no name, company or email are skipped, and an email without @, a phone number without a digit or a website with a space is left out with a warning. Long lines are folded to 75 bytes as the standard asks. Nothing is uploaded: the file is built in your browser. Up to 2,000 contacts at a time.
