Questions

How is each ingredient priced?
Cost = amount used ÷ pack amount × pack price. Units of the same kind are converted first, so 200 g used from a 1 kg pack costs one fifth of the pack. Mass units are g, kg, oz and lb; volume units are ml, l, tsp, tbsp, cup and fl oz; count is each.
How are cost per serving and margin calculated?
Cost per serving = total cost ÷ servings. Profit = selling price − cost per serving. Margin % = profit ÷ selling price × 100. Food cost % = cost per serving ÷ selling price × 100.
Can I mix a weight and a volume, like cups of flour from a bag in kilograms?
No. That needs the density of the ingredient, which differs for every food. Enter the pack and the recipe in units of the same kind, for example weigh the flour in grams.
