Swiss Pairing Generator

Run a Swiss tournament without a spreadsheet: paste the players, enter the results of each round and get the next pairings and the standings.

The tournament lives in this tab only; nothing is sent or saved.

How it works

  1. Paste one player name per line and start the tournament.
  2. Play the round, then choose the result of each match: first player wins, draw or second player wins.
  3. Generate the next round — players on similar scores meet, and nobody repeats an opponent when it can be avoided.
  4. Check the standings after every round and stop when you have played enough rounds.

What people use it for

  • Chess and board-game clubs

Pair a club evening where everyone plays every round without being knocked out.

  • Esports and card tournaments

Handle an odd number of players with an automatic bye.

  • Classroom contests

Run quiz or sports rounds where every pupil keeps playing.

Questions

How are the pairings made?
Round 1 pairs the top half of your list against the bottom half. After that, players are sorted by points and each one meets the best-ranked player they have not yet faced. This is a simplified Swiss method, not an official federation pairing system.
How do byes and scoring work?
A win is 1 point, a draw 0.5, a loss 0. With an odd number of players the lowest-ranked player who has not had a bye sits out and scores 1 point. Standings are ordered by points, then by Buchholz (the sum of your opponents' points).
Is the tournament saved?
No. It lives only in this browser tab and nothing is sent anywhere, so keep the tab open and copy the standings before you leave.
