Facet Combination Counter

Write each dimension on its own line with its values, like “Size: S, M, L”. You get the exact number of combinations, a dimension-by-dimension breakdown, a warning when the total gets out of hand, and the first 2,000 combinations as a table and a CSV. Everything stays on your device and no page is created.

Combinations

24

3 dimensions give 24 combinations: Size 3 × Color 4 × Fit 2.

How it works

  1. Write one dimension per line, a colon, then its values separated by commas.
  2. Read the exact number of combinations and the breakdown by dimension.
  3. Look at the warning if the total is large, then remove or group values.
  4. Copy the summary or export the listed combinations as a CSV.

What people use it for

  • Product variants

Count the sizes, colours and finishes you would have to photograph, stock or price.

  • Test matrices

See how many browser, device and setting combinations a full test run would need.

  • Menus and kits

Count the possible meal or gift combinations before you promise them all.

Questions

How is the number computed?
It is the product of the number of values of each dimension. Three sizes, four colours and two fits give 3 × 4 × 2 = 24. The product is computed with exact integers, so very large totals have no rounding error.
Why is the list limited to 2,000 combinations?
To keep the page responsive. The count stays exact whatever its size; only the table and the CSV stop at the first 2,000, with the last dimension changing fastest. If you need all of them, cut dimensions or group values until the total is small enough.
How are duplicate values handled?
Two identical values on the same line count once, and the number ignored is shown. Values are separated by commas, semicolons or vertical bars, and surrounding spaces are removed.
Does it remove combinations that cannot exist?
No. It counts every combination, valid or not. If some pairs are impossible, such as a size that does not exist in one colour, the real number is lower than the one shown, and you need to subtract them yourself.
