Strong Password Generator
Choose a length and the characters to use, then generate a strong password — created on your device, never sent or saved.

Very strong104 bits of entropy
Created on your device with your browser's cryptographic generator (crypto.getRandomValues). The password is never sent, logged or saved — it disappears when you leave the page.
How it works
- Set the length with the slider, from 8 to 64 characters. 16 or more is a good default.
- Tick the character sets to use, and “Avoid look-alike characters” if you will type the password by hand.
- Press Generate until you like the result, then press Copy.
What people use it for
New accounts
Give every website and app its own long, unique password.
Wi-Fi and devices
Make a router or guest Wi-Fi password, avoiding look-alike characters so it is easy to type.
Password managers
Generate a password to store straight into your password manager.
Questions
- Is it safe to generate a password here?
- Yes. The password is created by your browser with the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), never Math.random. It is not sent to any server, not saved, and disappears when you leave the page.
- How is the strength measured?
- Entropy in bits = log2(number of possible characters) × length. A 16-character password using all four sets draws from 90 characters, about 104 bits. Under 40 bits is weak, 40 to 60 is fair, 60 to 80 is strong, and 80 or more is very strong.
- Will the password contain every type I selected?
- Yes. At least one character from each ticked set is included, then all characters are shuffled with the same cryptographic generator, so their positions are random.
- Which characters are look-alikes?
- 0, O and o, 1, l and I, and the | symbol. They are easy to mix up when reading a password aloud or typing it on another device.
