Bead Pegboard Calculator
Enter the width and the height of your pattern in cells and the size of one board in cells. You get the number of boards across and down, the spare cells on the last boards and a plan. Add the size of one cell to get the size of the finished piece.
Boards needed
4
2 across × 2 down · 0 spare cells
Boards are your own sizes: the page assumes no brand and does not test how boards fit together. The finished size is a theoretical figure.
How it works
- Enter the width and the height of the pattern, in cells.
- Enter the width and the height of one board, in cells.
- Optionally enter the size of one cell in millimetres.
- Read the number of boards and the spare cells, check the plan, then copy the result.
What people use it for
Before buying boards
Know how many boards a 58 × 58 pattern needs when each holds 29 × 29.
Resizing a pattern
See how a pattern of 58 cells compares with one of 59 when each board holds 29.
Finding space on the table
Get the size of the finished piece from the size of one cell.
Questions
- What are the formulas?
- Boards across = ceil(pattern width ÷ board width), boards down = ceil(pattern height ÷ board height), boards = across × down. Spare cells = boards × board width × board height − pattern width × pattern height. The finished size is the number of cells times the size of one cell.
- Which board size should I use?
- The one of your own boards, counted in cells. The page assumes no brand and no standard board. Check the size on your boards or in their instructions.
- Is the finished size exact?
- No. It is the number of cells times the size of one cell that you enter. Real beads, fusing and the gaps between boards change the result, and the tolerance is unknown.
- Does it tell me how the boards fit together?
- No. It counts boards. How they are joined, and whether a large piece holds together, are not tested here.
