Bead Pattern Colour Counter

Type or paste your pattern with one row per line and a colour code in each cell, separated by spaces or commas. Use a dot for an empty cell. The page counts the beads of each colour, sorts them from the most used, and gives the total.

Beads in total

10

3 colours · 4 × 3 cells · 2 empty cells not counted
  • G: 4
  • B: 3
  • R: 3

The grid stays in your browser: nothing is read from a picture and nothing is sent. Add spare beads for losses yourself.

How it works

  1. Write or paste the grid: one row per line, one code per cell, separated by spaces or commas.
  2. Use a dot (or a dash) for an empty cell.
  3. Read the count for each colour and the total number of beads.
  4. Copy the list as text or as CSV for your shopping list.

What people use it for

  • Making a shopping list

Turn a pattern into the number of beads to buy for each colour.

  • Checking a design

See that a pattern uses fewer colours than you thought.

  • Sharing a list

Copy the counts without sharing the pattern or a picture.

Questions

What counts as a colour?
Any code of up to 12 characters, such as R, 12, or a brand number. Codes are compared without regard to upper or lower case and shown in capitals, so r and R are the same colour. A dot or a dash is an empty cell and is not counted.
Does it read a picture?
No. You type or paste the grid. No image is read or uploaded, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
How big can the grid be?
Up to 500 rows, 500 cells per row and 40 000 cells in total. Every row needs the same number of cells.
Does it tell me how many beads I really need?
It gives the exact count of the cells in your grid. Spare beads for losses or mistakes are for you to add.
