Pomodoro Session Planner

Enter how many minutes the task needs, the length of a work block and of the short and long breaks, and optionally the time you start. You get the number of blocks, a line-by-line schedule with a start and an end for every block and break, the total of work and rest, and the time you finish.

Blocks = task ÷ work block, rounded up. Breaks come between blocks only, never after the last one, and every Nth block is followed by the long break. A 0-minute break is left out. Up to 1,440 minutes and 500 blocks. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

How it works

  1. Type the length of the task in minutes.
  2. Set the work block, the short break, the long break and how many blocks come before a long break. The classic values are 25, 5, 15 and 4.
  3. Add a start time in 24-hour format if you want clock times. Leave it empty to see elapsed time.
  4. Read the schedule and the end time, then copy it. Untick “shorten the last block” if you prefer a full block at the end.

What people use it for

  • A writing or study session

Turn a 2-hour job into blocks and know before you start when you will be done.

  • A work block in a day plan

See whether a task fits before a meeting, with the breaks counted.

  • Trying other rhythms

Compare 25/5 with 50/10 or 90/20 for the same task and look at the total time.

Questions

How are the blocks and breaks counted?
The number of blocks is the task length divided by the block length, rounded up. Breaks come between blocks only, never after the last one, so there is one fewer break than blocks. After every Nth block the break is the long one instead of the short one. A 50-minute task with 25-minute blocks makes 2 blocks and 1 break of 5 minutes; 51 minutes makes 3 blocks (25 + 25 + 1) and 2 breaks (10 minutes).
What does “shorten the last block” do?
When it is ticked, the last block only lasts for the remaining minutes of the task. When it is not ticked, the last block is a full block even if the task needs less, which makes the plan longer than the task.
Is the 25-minute rhythm a rule?
No. 25 minutes of work, a 5-minute break and a longer one every 4 blocks is the common version of the Pomodoro Technique, but every length can be changed here. The page schedules time; it does not tell you how much rest or focus you need.
What are the limits?
Lengths are whole minutes, the task goes up to 24 hours (1,440 minutes) and the plan up to 500 blocks. A plan that goes past midnight is marked as next day. A break of 0 minutes is left out of the schedule. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
